DJ MP3 (born Mhlengi Prince Cele on May 3, 1992) is a dynamic South African DJ, producer, rapper, and songwriter based in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal.
His musical journey began in 2014 when he started producing music on a Pentium 3 computer using Fruity Loops 9.
Over the years, DJ MP3 honed his craft and quickly established himself within the local music scene, performing at various shows across the region.
DJ MP3 first dropped an EP in 2022 with the lead banger dubbed “Loadshedding” feat Turkana, making waves globally.
On his 32nd birthday – 3rd of May 2024, He released a debut album, “Thrillest”, a versatile and genre-blending collection that showcases his unique sound.
The album features a fusion of Gqom, House, Kwaito, Dance, Electronic, Deep House, Rap, and Hip-Hop, underscoring his ability to seamlessly navigate multiple musical styles.
Known for his versatility and boundary-pushing approach to music, DJ MP3 has collaborated with a diverse range of artists including Bloomfeld, Turkana, Bull Doggs, Toto-Boi, Chrisman, Tshongo, Lafaristo, Menzi, Phelimuncasi, and Earl Da Gosins.
He is also currently involved in collaborative projects with the Nyege Nyege label, further solidifying his presence within the international music scene through residency programs.
